770: Jeff May – Life and Times of an IEQPioneer

Post by admin »

Show Resources: 12:07:39 From Danny Gough : Is that air sample a spore trap
12:10:05 From Danny Gough : Like May Dooley
12:10:57 From Radio Joe : Reacted to "Like May Dooley" with 👍
12:21:23 From Danny Gough : Can Jeff speak to the extreme fear among the public when they see a dime size discoloration on a surface and go into full scale panic and trauma. Yet no one has any adverse symptoms. One homeowner with his home under roof saw a couple spots on framing and had the house dismantled and rebuilt with metal studs.
12:30:00 From Danny Gough : Speaking of odors. What’s Jeff’s top secret cure for dirty sock syndrome from heat pump air handlers?
12:37:34 From Bill Pockels : How does rock salt residue entering the indoor environment effect Indoor Air Quality?
12:46:00 From Tom Phillips, Davis, CA : thanks for the great stories. Re: mini split cleaning: can a homeowner easily clean or replace a filter often to prevent IEQ problems?
12:51:26 From Linda Wigington : i disagree on Jeff's comment on energy use. It is critical that they are properly installed so they drain -if the drain is impaired - absolutely - you will have problems galore. Ist one I installed we did not get the angle right on the hole in the wall for the drain, and to the outdoor unit. Slightly extra moisture on the drain pan caused the blower wheel to grow stuff like crazy. But other issue is that if it is a dirty indoor environment it is no different than any other AC unit - You should filter the air - with portable air cleaners in the case of minisplits. You do not need to have professional clean heads every year if it drains correctly and indoor air is filtered/or clean.
12:54:59 From Danny Gough : What do you recommend to paint the framing
12:55:33 From Linda Wigington : I was editing my shat - and "energy use" got substituted for "minisplits". Sorry if that was confusing. Did not intend to send before it was finished.
12:57:35 From Danny Gough : I’m not convinced you can effectively clean a mini split head without removing and dismantling it. And that’s more $$ .
12:58:41 From Danny Gough : Martine Davis talks favorably about z bioscience probiotic periodic treatment
12:58:42 From Linda Wigington : it needs to drain correctly - and I agree - the filters on the minisplit are not useful
13:00:23 From Danny Gough : Those units are assembled by proctologists with really small hands.
13:02:22 From Linda Wigington : we do maintenance on some of the minisplits we have installed. They do not need to be cleaned professionally every year of they drain properly, unless environment is extremely dirty.
13:03:26 From Danny Gough : I share Corsi Rosenthal box Linda
13:03:44 From Danny Gough : Great job guys
13:04:07 From Chris Buonocore : Thanks Jeff!
